Lu Wang Born in 1982, pianist Lu Wang starts studying piano at age of 4. A child prodigy, he made his recital debut at age of 6. Same year, sponsored by the Chinese National Culture Exchange Program, Lu joined a group of young artists, touring Japan and gave over 20 concerts. At the age of 8, Lu won first prize at China's National Piano Competition for Young Artists( one of the finalists, is now renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang) and made his orchestra debut with the Shanghai Conservatory Orchestra playing Mozart Piano Concerto in F major KV459. People's Daily News acclaimed him as "one of the 10 Promising Future Stars in China" . The following year, Lu recorded his first commercial CD playing works by Chopin, Debussy and Grieg. He then entered as first place in the entrance exam to the Elementary School of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. While studying in the Conservatory, Lu was chosen to play Grieg Piano Concerto in the Opening Season Concert of the LangXi Opera House. He then regularly appears as soloist with China's National Symphony, National Ballet Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. Lu gives recitals through out China and Hong Kong, playing in many prestigious concert halls such as Hong Kong's Performing Arts Center, People's Palace in Beijing, Beijing Central Concert Hall, Xinghai Concert Hall, Shanghai Concert Hall and He Lu Ding Concert Hall. After winning first prizes at 13th Kong Hong International piano Competition , Woodmere International Music Competition, Stravinsky International Piano Competition and received the famed Panasonic Scholar Award, Lu made his American Debut at age of 16, playing Chopin Piano Concerto No 1 with the New York Symphonic Ensemble at Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. He also gave a recital debut at New York' Steinway Hall, playing works by Schumann, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff. After a performance at the " F.A.M.E" Music Festival in New Jersey, Critics wrote about his playing " Mature, Passionate. You would expect playing like this from a concert veteran, not someone who is barely 17 years old". He then starts giving concerts throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Russia, in concert halls as well as in churches, local schools and retirement homes. Highlights of future engagements include recital at the Weil Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, tour throughout China playing programs combining western classical music and Chinese traditional music. Mr. Wang holds a Bachelor's Degree from The Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Nina Svetlanova, a Master's Degree from The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Yoheved Kaplinsky and Jerome Lowenthal, and the prestigious Artist Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University in the studio of Yong Hi Moon. Mr. Wang has also worked with Ariel Vardi and attended piano workshop of Klaus Hellwig. Master classes he has played in include those of Leon Fleisher, Elisso Virsaladze, Karl Heinz Kammerling, Cecile Ousset, Stefano Fuizzi, Oxana Yablonskaya, Vladimir Feltsman, Christopher Elton, and Byron Janis. He has been a recipient of full scholarships to attend Music Academy of the West, the Cliburn/TCU Young Artist Program, Bowdoin International Music Festival., Piano Fest and Hamamatsu International Academy. Aside from performing, Lu is passionate about bringing music to local communities and teaching music to young students .He has taught master classes in HangZhou and Taian Universities, China.
